Oh hey! Well it has been awhile so I say an update is in order. First of all, miss Katie moved to Denver and is loving her new job! Let’s pretend I didn’t bawl my eyes out the day she left town…then I realized I will see her in two days and she is only an hour away. Phew. The superwoman somehow still manages to find time to design labels and keep up with custom lip balm orders. We shall call her Director of All Things Lip Balmy.
Up in Fort Collins I have been hosting Sweets Tea Parties with friends to demonstrate signature products and to receive feedback on the products, the tea parties, and the business as a whole. I am loving it! Kansas City Kitty is planning on hosting a tea party in the store near the end of September so I will keep you posted. There have been some requests from friends who would like to host a tea party with their friends. Let me know if you are interested! Basically I bring cupcakes and iced tea to your house, we chit chat and try on cosmetics, then if you like a product you are welcome to purchase it, if not there is no awkward pressure. Simple
Let’s also talk about the fact that Happy Lucky’s is going to start sponsoring the Sweets Tea Parties. I couldn’t be more excited! Thank you George for your generosity, it is much appreciated.
So now I want a cool name…maybe I can be the Director of Retail Products and Ridiculously Good Cupcakes. Yeah I think I like that.

Well I said my goodbyes to aussie land and I am back in the USA! It is good to be home; I missed the spicy food and mongo-jumbo fruit pies. I am trying as hard as I can to live by “no worries mate” like the aussies, but of course I jumped right into volunteering, working, and hanging out with friends as much as possible. Katie and I have been living the dream up at our favorite dam, drinking coconut iced americanos as usual. Sadly, someone thought the lake would be cooler without water, so we now have to venture to Parkwood pool to swim and play volleyball. The other day during a volleyball session, I watched the ball come straight at me, didn’t move, and got smacked in the face. Winner! I think it is best I stick to making cosmetics.
This Sunday Katie and I are hosting our first Sweets High Tea Party! Picture an afternoon on the back patio; vintage gold pitcher and glasses filled with citrus and green iced tea, mini cupcakes, and of course, an assortment of Sweets Cosmetics! The main focus of this party is not only to demonstrate, sample, and sell our products, but receive feedback and advice from our friends and customers. The goal of the day is to have an open discussion about the cosmetics industry; the good, the bad; the past, and the future to give Katie and me inspiration for our store within the next few years.
After this first party, I will be hosting Sweets High Tea Parties every three weeks, each with different groups of women. Meanwhile, Katie will be continuing to manage and develop our custom lip balm business from her new place in Denver (congrats on the new job woman!!). If you are interested in coming to my next High Tea, send me an email at mkdunkle@rams.colostate.edu. I am planning the next grandma-inspired get-together for Sunday afternoon August 8th. Perhaps in between I will practice my volleyball skills.
Top tucka sunshine! See you for a cuppa this Sunday avo! Sorry, I tried…

What a wonderful reunion! Besides talking politics with kangaroos, we drank plenty of flat whites, took a romantic night walk on the beach, and just relaxed. See the thing is, Katie and I are usually go go go! in Fort Collins together, always thinking of something we could be doing. Not even just Sweets, there are always vintage trinkets to be found, the dam to be swam in, clothes to be sewn, golf balls to be hit, thrift stores to be wondered through, and cherry limeades to be sipped. Free time was a lovely problem for us, it generally turned into coffees and lazy chats on the sunny back “verandah” as the aussies would call it.
Seeing as Sweets feels more like fun than work, we had a chat about it at the beach one evening. Started toying with the idea of creating our own custom lip balm website, separate of the Sweets signature line. Katie and I are still brainstorming the idea, but made plans this summer to chat with our advisers in the community. We recently established a team of friends to design custom graphics, print labels, make lip balm, and communicate with customers. Our market for this segment of Sweets includes companies, weddings, and sports teams who see a need for personalized lip balm. The fun part is, our customers can choose the colors, flavors, and design of their promotional products. Sweet right? We are also in the process of updating our signature website with pictures and colors to match the new designs that Katie came up with this Spring. Vintage and Sassy. If you are interested or know of someone, we are on the hunt for web designers!
Looking forward to Big City Burrito, camping and tubing on the Poudre river, and New Belgium brewery tours in a few weeks time with Katie!! But I sure am going to miss Australia, she has been too good to me. Did I mention the abundance of Nutrient Water (yeah, the aussie version of VitaWa) and One Tree Hill where I am staying with Claudia? Thanks Stevo, Geege, Adam, and Alex : )

Shhh I’m surprising Katie with Tim Tams and Vegemite. Not together, that’s disgusting. Currently she is on a 14 hour plane ride to come to Australia! This is the plan… Davina and I are picking her up from the airport tomorrow at 7am, dropping off her stuff at my house, grabbing a little brekky, then off to the honey puff eating contest at the Greek Festival! Jet lag? Sorry that’s not an option.
Beyond the honey puffs and Tim Tams, not really sure what we are going to get up to. Of course the beach, the city, the kangaroos, the cupcakes, the river, and most importantly meeting the people! Including friends from when I was a little one dressed up in a red and blue Sherwood State School uniform, to the new friends that have shown me around the outskirts of Brisbane. Thanks team, love ya’s. It will be a beautiful two weeks.

Tell me, who is excited about summertime? Right, we love the snow, snowboarding, skiing, and hot chocolate but summertime brings out the best in Katie and I.
